After the parent and the invading chick left, the older sibling began to try to kill the little one. I was so shocked, that I stared in disbelief and missed a lot of the shots of what was happening.

I'm still wondering whether the invading chick triggered this behavior, as we had observed over many weeks, the two siblings engaging in rough housing, as virtually every species does, but nothing like this.
