This is the start of the most horrific sight I've ever seen in my wildlife photography, and hope to never see again.
I've photographed birds eating fish or small rodents. And of course I've watched many wildlife shows of lions chasing and killing a gazelle, etc. I've always considered that part of nature, but I wasn't prepared for this. So warning to those who may be showing the next few images to young children. The images, along with my descriptions, may be disturbing.
This is the lower nest with the two chicks, plus a chick from a different nest. To our knowledge, we had not seen this behavior before.
