Cheung Sha Wan - Explosion 2006

Police evacuated two residential buildings to allow bomb experts to detonate suspected wartime explosives unearthed at a construction site in Cheung Sha Wan. Sixteen devices were exploded at the scene while another 172 items were taken away. Altogether, nearly 600-items were unearthed at the arms dump in Tonkin Street between Castle Peak and Cheung Sha Wan Roads. They included artillery shells, grenades, bombs and anti-aircraft bullets, many of them in unstable condition. The alarm was raised by government drainage staff who were carrying out maintenance work at the site on 8th April 2006.
