A view of the ESO 3.6m telescope (at the top) and, below that, the NTT (New Technology Telescope)
I think this sign means "Faster!"
The SEST (Swedish ESO Submillimetre Telescope).
I have no idea what this dog was called, but he/she/it accompanied us on our afternoon walk to see the petroglyphs. It spent the rest of the week trying to eat our legs.
As you can hopefully gauge from this photo, it's a couple of miles or so from the telescopes to the petroglyphs and they're certainly not easy to find without directions.
The dog attends to its collection of miniature donkeys.
After a long walk, the dog gets some well-earned rest. Not the ideal place to choose to take that rest though.
The NTT control room, or part of it at any rate.
Another (much less annoying) dog.
A good night's observing awaits.
One of the ickle mountain foxes. I was quite lucky to see a few of these.
Not a bad photo if you consider the low light conditions and the fact that these foxes are incredibly timid.
