Michael, I like this second one better too. I actually like the speckled effect of the backdrop and think it adds, not detracts.

I think you have too much DOF with this one. The rose itself is better in this photo, but I think it should be the focus of the photo.

Great job on this one. The sharp background makes for a nicer view than the previous version (IMHO)
