Potala Palace

The imposing Potala Palace, the symbol of Lhasa and Tibet, is built between 1645 and 1694 on the Marpori Hill and is a Unesco World Heritage site. This Palace with its golden roofs, is 117 m. high, 350 m. long, has 13 floors with more than 1000 rooms. This Palace was of the Dalai Lamas until the 14th Dalai Lama in 1959 fled to Dharamsala in India.
Dalai Lama means 'Ocean of wisdom'
