Hi Melinda. The direction of your key light here is very nice. I like the shadows you have created with it. The light is a bit high up in relation to the plate/table so play around with your height so you can see the effect that has as well. We will get in to composition in lessons 3 but images with the key point of focus centered usually are not as strong as when they are placed at one of the intersecting thirds of the frame(rule of thirds).
Another thing to watch out for are overlapping or merging subjects. When you have things that are the same color and they overlap like the nuttela here, you lose definition and it's hard to see where one spoonful ends and the other begins. By giving some separation between them, you can maintain good definition. Ron
