--Saturday trip to various Maya sites...Everyone loaded into back of pickup for dusty ride #1
from the Northern Highway down to Baking Pot along the Western Highway and crossing the lazy Mopan River we saw Xunantunich and it's fine frescoes that were cut into the high-rising main structure.

We shopped for some essentials in San Ignacio, where Bruce Springsteen's "Jersey Girl" blarred from loudspeakers at the small, but well-equipped mom & pop tienda.

A visit to the British Defense Force's Holdfast Camp was in order and tea was served...

Driving west from Holdfast along the Western Highway one crosses the Hawkesworth Bridge into the town of San Ignacio. The Guatemalan border is just over 8 miles away.
