Kitchen-Office w/tienda casa blinds visible/Pulltrowser Swamp

Douglas, Orange Walk District

The spoils of the days' excavation. A frustrated graduate student, Colleen Gleason had a constant need for aspirin. She toiled through the sparse excavated evidence to support her thesis on intense agriculture at river's edge. Frustration in paradoxic winter weather. . .In other words, we didn't find much to jump about in this remote "raised field" project location, save for quiet meditational labor.

The "bible" resource for the study of raised fields in this location was Turner & Harrison's 1983 publication of PULLTROWSER SWAMP.
This proved to be an exhaustive discussion of the agriculture and settlement of Northern Belize.

The tienda basado en casa double wooden blinds in the down position are visible through the doorway on the left.
The gate at the front porch prevented pigs, dogs and chickens from paying us a visit.
