New Zealand looks to be a beautiful place. You have captured it very well in your photography. It's hard to believe no one other than myself has left a comment since 2012. You have my vote.

Voted for this gallery. Really enjoyed the Punakaiki beach shots: The lines constrasting against the cliff surface as well as the saturated colors were really inspiring. All your galleries especially the Western Australia and New Zealand inspires me to do better in my digital photography. Being a beginner in digital photography, and have posted some pictures from my recent trip a few days back to the Flinders Ranges and Arkaroola. Please feel free to comment on how I could improve my techniques:http://www.pbase.com/dion_chan/flinders_ranges Cheers, Dion

fantastic pictures of a truly fantastic place - i really love the close-up of the foliage taken from the water at Milford Sound. Plus the reflections of the Sound - wow! When I was there they even had to close the Milford Track the weather was so bad! Great work. Maybe you'd like to look at my NZ gallery some time? http://www.pbase.com/mike_bonsall/new_zealand_landscapes

I can only echo the positive comments made by everyone else here. Splendid!

Cassie 16-Feb-2005 07:45
The photos of your 3 week trip to NZ are amazing. Some of your pictures make we want to break out the oil paints and capture your photos on canvas. You have composed many photos in the same manner I like to put oil to canvas. I especially like your photo titled Westcoast.

Michael Shpuntov 31-Jan-2005 20:56
Well, One can say it's a wonderful country. I say these are wonderful pictures of the wonderful country. I liked them a lot. You have a great eye for composition and colors. Realy enjoyed looking at the gallery.

Fred Parsons 30-Jan-2005 08:30
One of the really good landscape galleries by far. This and your other galleries. Very much liked: milford sound, 12 appostles, beach koala, buller gorge (sp?) and lots more. If you would like to see some pictures of New England in the USA - please go to my site pbase.com/fredparsons and also www.parsonsprints.com I think you will see some common approaches to landscapes on both sides of our world - but yours are better. Thanks again. Fred Parsons

¿Hay pinguinos en el sur de Nueva Zelanda en invierno? Estas bellas las fotos

Guest 30-Oct-2004 04:14
Yeah, well, what can I add except "wow"!? ;] Really wonderful pictures - you've obviously taken a lot of time in setting up your compositions (a number of really nice foreground details included in the sweeping, wild vistas of the South Island), they are technically excellent (exposure, focus spot-on) and you seems to have been blessed with absolutely beautiful weather while you were there. Was this a specific photo expedition or just a general vacation? Couple of niggly points to make already absolutely wonderful shots just absolutely perfect: 1. Some of the shots don't have a level horizon (e.g. mountcook_s, lakewanaka_s, rainbow_s, reesevalley, mountcook2 and a couple of others). They all seem to slope down from left to right. Don't know if it's just me looking at them crooked, but that's what it looks like to me... (told you these were niggling points! ;] ). 2. Colors seem a little overly "postcardy" - maybe a little bit less contrast? I know this is a matter of personal taste, and maybe NZ is simply this stunningly colorful, but I'd tone it down a little (again, just personal preference). 3. lakewanaka2 seems a little flat somehow, don't really know why... 4. lakepukaki_s has too little interest in the vast area of water in the foreground - composite in a whale breaching and it's perfect! (Just kidding! ;] ). Again, just meant as hopefully constructive criticism, because they are totally gorgeous pictures! I think my favorites are boulders, punakaiki_beach3_s (how did you get that DOF - did you use a TS lens?) and nuggetpoint_s. Oh, and I hate you for having been to NZ and having come away with such wonderful photos!!! ;]

I am from New Zealand and of course the south island, however I'm living overseas. Just by chance I thought that maybe your title the south island was referring to my neck of the woods and sure enough I was right. The photos are so breath taking, special and untouched.
