South Island of New Zealand

Some of my favorite images from our travel/tramp through the south island of New Zealand in Late November through early December 2002 and again another visit in November 2004.
Features images of Abel Tasman and Routeburn tracks, and Aoraki Mt Cook area, Milford Sound, Moeraki and the Catlins.
The first 4.5 pages of images are from our 2004 trip.

Excellent photography Jason! Looks like you have taken great pains to include the details in your shots. I was in New Zealand myself for a 2-week vacation earlier this month but had not had the opportunity to discover all of New Zealand's beauty and charms. You have captured them all extremely well and have 'taken' me to all those places that I've missed out. I especially adore The Rolling Hills Of The Catlins. New Zealand is just simply awesome! I hope to go back there some day. Keep up the good work, Jason!

I keep coming back to your site. I love the photography.
I've lived in New zealand my whole life and I love it - it's so scenic and awesome.
If you've seen Lord of the Rings I can honestly say that it is just the same as the scenery on that as it was filmed here in nz.
Be sure to come in the summertime which is from December until February - that's when the weather is the best.

Oh man, nice gallery here. I was so close to going the south island at almost the same time you went, but last minute complications forced me to cancel the trip. These pics have got me thinking about it again. I especially like the reflection shot of Lake Wakatipu. Absolutely killer!

Wow. Nice shots. I did the exact same route as you two months ago now. I was 14 days in the south island and travelled from Nelson to Greymouth/Haast/Wanaka/Queenstown/Milford sound/Queenstown/Cristchurch with lots of camping spots to sleep in between (DOC's). The funny thing is that i own an Dimage 7hi myself, almost the same as yours. Did you vist many sites from the LOTR movies? I'm making my own site about them.

the photos will be up there in about a month as i'm still working on them (not as good as yours by far though).

I just wants to say that there are some beautyfull pictures here, and they make me wanna come to new zealand even more, because if all goes well i'll be there next year as an exchange student. you really know how to take pictures Jason(?)and it's something you probably will and should ceep on doing. kind regards from LiO

I thought your pictures were fantastic!!! I just decided today at work after seeing an advertisement for NZ that that is where I want to go this year. My offer was to stay on a farm typical of NZ and they provide room,food,etc., and you stay on their farm and belong more or less to their family. I thought this would be extraordinary but my 17 year old daughter can't even imagine going and staying on a farm!!! Let me hear from you since I have many questions and I need some answers if you would be so kind!! Thanks!
