This White-winged Dove was found late in the afternoon on 5-19-08. My mother spotted the bird, which my father then identified. Mom came and got me (at the time she didn't remember what bird it was), and when I walked in the door my Dad asked me if I had White-winged Dove in TN. I will skip my exact comment, but when I asked where it was, he pointed out the dining room window. The bird was about 10 feet away feeding on spilled birdseed at the edge of their patio. I figured my TN White-winged Dove would be a little harder than this. I spent a long, hot day looking for that 1st one at Shelby Farms a few years ago.

I watched it here for several minutes, until it flew up into a large oak tree at the edge of the back yard. I then went out, and was able to relocate the bird, which I watched and photographed through the scope for about 30 more minutes. The bird slept practically this whole time, before flying when a Mourning Dove came in right beside it on the branch. It flew low when it left, but we didn't see it again late that afternoon.
