Loggerhead Kingbird

Fort Zachary Taylor SP; Key West, FL

I arrived at Fort Zachary Taylor at about 09:00, an hour later than I wanted to (thanks to time change). But, no sooner had I parked my car did I hear that the bird was being seen. There were about 30 people there when I arrived.

I took this 1st shot with my Panasonic, but it shows all the field marks pretty well of this 1st NA record.

Black crown and face contrasting with gray upperparts
White-tipped square tail (not as clean-cut as Eastern)
Largish bill (more apparent from other angles)

The call was very distinct, a very dry rattle

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 ,Minolta ATC-100 1.5X Teleconverter

other sizes: small medium original auto
