Roraiman Warbler

Sierra de Lema

This blurry shot is of a Roraiman Warbler, another tepui endemic. We saw this 'Basileuterus' numerous times. It's taxonomy is a little confused right now, sometimes regarded as a race of Two-banded Warbler.

We also saw Gray-headed Warbler, which is the most-threatened of all Wood-Warblers (assuming Bachman's and Semper's are extinct). Seeing this bird involved grueling conditions in the rain, but we were rewarded with excellent looks. Also seen in the same area were other endemics, like Venezuelan Sylph, White-tailed Saberwing, Rufous-shafted Woodstar, and Green-tailed Emerald. I guess you could say it wasn't a bad place for hummers!
