Little Stint

Louisville, KY

The bird dropped it's head behind some debries here, but this is the look I had when I 1st picked the bird up. The back pattern caught my eye initially, with the ovreall dark look and bold white mantle lines. The bird didn't have the look of a juvenile Least Sandpiper, which also can show obvious mantle lines. This is classic for Little Stint in breeding or juvenile plumage.
