Red-naped Sapsucker

Covington Park; CA

Red-napes are pretty scarce in CA, though not a lifer for either Don or I, this was a nice bonus bird. Not as nice though as the pair of Williamson's Sapsuckers we found by going up the aerial tramway to the high elevations of the San Jacinto Mountains though!

This bird was in Covington Park, adjacent to Big Morongo Preserve, just out of Palm Springs.

It was pratically dark when I got this shot, my best excuse for the poor shot.

Nikon Coolpix 4500 ,Pentax PF-80ED

other sizes: small medium original auto
