American Tree Sparrow

Britton Ford; Henry Co.

I've been wanting a photo of American Tree Sparrow, and were it not for that distracting branch, I would have had a good one! These are one of my favorite sparrows, just one we don't too often. I love the contrast in the gray and rusty on the head.

While they are annual, in small numbers around Reelfoot, I've only had them a handful of times in Henry Co. There were at least 4 working the hedgerow area.

Is that a band on the bird's left leg? Or a red section of a branch?
