Cooper's Hawk

Henry Co. TN

This is a common view of a Cooper's, as it soars overhead. They are also often seen in their dashing flight, in pursuit of avian prey. This bird shows well some of the features of Cooper's Hawk; the long, rounded tail (the white tail tip is lost against the cloud) straight leading edge of wing (Sharp-shinned tend to push the wing forward, so that the head doesn't project past the wing).
