Bufflehead

Britton Ford Refuge; TN

This shot was taken in fading light. The only possible confusion species with a drake Bufflehead is a Hooded Mergansre, but other than the big white area on the head, there aren't any other similarities. Females are much more subtle, but have a oval white spot on the head that sets them apart.

Nikon Coolpix 4500 ,Pentax PF-80ED

other sizes: small medium original auto
