Waimea Canyon is a real wonder, often called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". I spent a couple of days in this area, which is on the way to the Kokee area where the endemics are best found. It was hard to look over the Canyon and not see a Tropicbird soaring somewhere, and I often heard Erckel's Francolins below me.
