Both flight shots I got show the lesser underwing coverts to be unmarked white and contrasty to the rest of the underwing. This has been a reliable feature in my experience for Long-billed, but not sure if Short-billed can show this as well? Short-billed I've been able to see and photograph the underwing like this have been completely uniform in this area.
