The overall dingy look of the birds back and body favor a young Trumpeter over Tundra, which starts the molt out of juvenile plumage much earlier than Tunda. By late January many Tundra have a noticeably dark-necked/white-bodied look to them, while young Trumps are still overall dusky looking.
