Red-tailed Hawks

Hwy 67/226 Intersection; Craighead Co AR

The young borealis (eastern) Red-tail below tried to take the perch away from the young Krider's type, and came off second best. There were a number of Krider's or birds with significant Krider's influence in the area, so care much be taken with white hawks!

Have you noticed that all the hawks are gone from that area in the last couple of months we wants from counting 60-70 on our trip thru there and suddenly now there are none.

Gorgeous. I am always amazed at the great variety of Red-tailed hawks we see in Craighead County in the winter. On my last trip to NE AR I was surprised how many more hawks I saw between Newport and Jonesboro than between Jonesboro and Marion.
