Ferruginous Hawk

Hwy 67/226 Intersection; Craighead Co AR

Even at long range the shape of the bird is different than a Red-tail, with the even edged wings lacking the bowed out look to the secondaries usually shown by Red-tails. The bird always carries dihedral when soaring, and hovers and kites a lot. The very white overall look with basically unmarked underwings other than the comma are very distinct as well (beware Krider's though, which are numerous here).
