I happened to see this Peregrine as it climbing back out on the bank after evidently missing on a pass and going into the sludge. Without help these birds have zero chance at survival, so this set the stage for my first time handling a Peregrine, which was none too appreciative. Luckily, I got to her without too much trouble, and had some leather gloves in the car. I used my belt to secure those awesome feet and talons, and luckily Jeff Wilson was able to get hold of a rehabber which met me nearby and took the bird. She expects the bird to be migrating again in no time. Thanks to Jeff for some pointers on this, my first raptor rescue at the Pits!
