The Sun in H-alpha - 6 June 2012 (i.e. missed the transit of Venus!)
Having left home at 4:25am for my chosen viewing site, arriving just before sunrise at 5:10, unfortunately I missed the transit of Venus due to cloud. I got a good soaking for my trouble, though. Oh well, roll on 2117!
Anyway, the Sun did put in some appearances a few hours later, between shower clouds, and I imaged it with a compact camera through a Coronado SolarMax 40 H-alpha telescope. I've converted the result to mono, as H-alpha images are essentially monochrome red.
There is some cloud crossing the disk.
