Oltrarno, the neighborhood of narrow winding streets on the south bank of the Arno, is crowned by the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens of the Medici grand dukes who made it their home in 1550. The Piazzale Michelangelo offers expansive views of Florence and the Tuscan hills surrounding the city.
