After a container ship hit the base of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge
on the morning of November 7, spilling 58,000 gallons of bunker oil, beaches
inside and outside the bay have been closed for cleanup of "tar balls" and
retrieval of dead or injured wild birds. A disaster.
