These fishing nets, which look like they were put together in a hurry, were introduced by traders from the time of Kublai Khan. The rocks are used to pull the nets out of the water.

The nets in Kochin are mostly for tourists now, as they don't catch anything here anymore, but I saw working nets further down the Kerala coast.
