Runoff in the woods.

Today I found a huge waterspout, raising more than fifteen feet high shooting water straight up into the air. There was water flowing every direction from the main shaft of water, including this piece of a little waterfall shown here. The water is roaring down underground until it surfaces as a column of gushing water. The water is coming down from the mountains and mines on the plateau above. We have had heavy rains and snow melt and general flooding all through central Pennsylvania. In this case it all ends up flowing into a polluted creek. The area all around the water is stained bright orange from the mine pollution.
*(See the previous photo for a view of the Waterspout.)

Awful that this fresh looking water will be contaminated as it moves downstream. I like the sharpnesss of the turbulent water.
