Tokyo 2004 - First Visit

I only had a day in Tokyo... well half a day and a night.... before taking the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) south. After 16 hours of flight + waiting in transit in Singapore, I was well knackered.. at least no jet lag, traveling south to north Tokyo is a mere 1 hour ahead of home.

Step out of Tokyo central train station in to 43 C heat! (that's 110 for you ppl still using them funny yeh olde furlongs, leagues and fahrenheit thing) and 90% + humidity... whoooo from mid winter to high summer in 18 hours! Climate shock!

Hotel was 2 minute walk away but couldn't check in for another 3 hours.... dropped my backpack off and found a Starbucks... yeh not good (it took me 3 weeks to find real coffee in Japan - thanks you Croquet Cafe in Kyoto for saving my life :P) ... but at least it was air-conditioned.
