In the early 1800's 95 million acres of Long Leaf Pines covered Georgia. Today about 3% of those remain due to lumber operations during the late 1800's and early 1900's. The Long Leaf Pine is trying to make a comeback. Anytime we see a Long Leaf Pine growing it is great news. These are much more beautiful than the Short Needle Pine.
