Bald Eagle (immature)

Immature bald eagles have mostly a solid brown covering of feathers, which gradually tranform over the course of 4-5 years, when they finally possess the stark white head and tail of an adult.

I was able to capture this immature just when she began a turn back down the river. As she rose into the wind, her lighter feathers were illuminated by the afternoon sun.
