We live in SW Idaho, high mtn. desert. We have an insect of the grasshopper-cricket configuration, except that it has a 1" long, tubular ovipositor, large 1 1/4" torso. Coloration is lightly striped of a common grasshopper colors. This is the second one we've see in these parts in two weeks...no developed wings, but has indications that it is an orthoptera. Anyone with knowledge/suggestions as to genus, species, common name? Thanks.

I live in Augusta Georgia and I am seeing huge black grasshoppers or would look like grasshoppers with a orange or red stripe down the middle of the back I have never seen anything like it is this a grasshopper and they are multiplying

Hi, I found two grasshoppers in a bush and one is green blue white brown altogether on all the parts on the body. I also found out the second one is like a tree. Brown and white all over. Hello, I found an insect inside our bathroom..it has fourteen pairs of legs and an elongated body, looks like a small centipede (about one inch) but its legs are longer and thinner...this is the first time I saw this kind of insect...perhaps you can help me identify this creature...I am from the Philippines...

Dear Mark, My husband and are are wintering in Florida. We are presently camping at HillsboroughRiver State Park. While hiking I came across some little red crickets(?) I cannot find them by doing a web search I had posted them on my Facebook page. I am sending you the album of they are a part. Please let me know what you think they are. Hello, I caught a grasshopper in Vancouver, BC. It looks quite different than the pictures shown in your website. It might be a nymph, but it is already end of August, so it should be a fully grown grasshopper or it will die because of the cold. It also has two tails. I want to know if this grasshopper is male or female. Could I send you a picture of my grasshopper? Thank you!
