Superb still-life! I understand the comments about balance and all, but my eyes and sensibilities feel the darkness on the left and the large piece being off center, give a great balance! The piece has breath for these elements, I think. VOTE

Beautiful tones and lighting on this one... I like the comp, but I am just wondering about the OOF front edge to the platter? For a still life having such a prominent out of focus element seems a touch odd... Then again. Who cares about rules, still a rockin' shot...
Stewart Mitchell03-Jan-2010 22:00
Dreamy tones....and it's good to bend the compositional rules occasionally!! I like this a lot :)

It's interesting the way we all see things differently! I love the tones, contrasts and hues in this photo Marielou, but I can see what Peter means - for me, I would have preferred if the pears and the vase had not all been in the same line...but I like it nonetheless! :o)

Nice warm shot.

I see what Peter is talking about, but I happen to like it! Your right shoulder is slightly closer to the subject than the left is what I think happened. I like the effect, it sends the eye around and around the subjects. Almost like a 3D graphic! V

The DOF and light are spot on although, there is something that I can't put my figure on, not 100% on the composition, it doesn't seem balanced and I am drawn between the two small pears (?) and the terracotta. Interesting shot regardless.
