The dream of the patient Flemish horses and the clever trick of the man of Seattle

Antwerpen - Belgium

A series of continuous cold showers, also the brave guests of the wedding have looked for shelter under the arcades of the City Hall.
Sergey and I are under a small balcony, sharing the limited relatively dry space with another gentleman, as it happens often, when strangers are obliges to stay close to each other in particular circumstances, we start speaking in a rather familiar way. The man is an American, from Seattle.
“Oh, so you are not too shocked by that bad weather, you should be used to rain…”
“Actually I am…” he smiles.
“I suppose this weather is in your honour- I try to joke in a silly way to spend time, since we are blocked there- The Flemish Gods of weather want to make you feel at home…”
We cannot go anywhere, the rain is violent, only the infinitely patient two horses remain in the square, waiting for the groom and the brides, who will get into their carriage after the ceremony.
The man of Seattle smiles too, he looks up at the dark sky and says loudly, “Hey, it’s not like you think, I’m from Southern California…Southern California, do you know it never rains in Southern California!”
Believe it or not, immediately after his words, the rain stops falling.
We all laugh, the man from Seattle winks and leaves, Sergey and I take a picture of the horses, you can see that it doesn’t rain…
