I’d walk all the night long, guided by smells, sounds of voices, street lights.
But it’s time to write le last chapter of this short, but intense night session.
I’ll translate for Sergey this summary of popular Belgian delicacy, tasting them will be only postponed.
Soupe à l’oignon – onions soup (uhm maybe also rather French)
Croquette de crevettes grises – rissoles of grey shrimp (this is very Belgian )
Fondus au fromage - it’s difficult to translate that, Sergey, it’s something made of melted cheese.
Carbonnades Flamande – this is basically a kind of stews of meat and beer
Waterzooï à la gantoise – a kind of soup with big pieces of chicken and vegetables, à la mode de Gent ( oh very typical!)
Lapin à la gueuze & frites – rabbit cooked with beer and chips ( I adore that)
Moules marinieres & frites – mussels and chips…of course, noblesse oblige.
Just reading this menu makes me feel replete.
