Fantastic photos! I would love to see a picture of the Marine Sikorsky HRS, the tail of which can be seen to the left of the Marine Husky helicopter, if you have one. It is painted in a very unusual camo scheme

This show was held at Philadelphia International Airport and not Willow Grove. My dad took me and a friend on Saturday, September 3 as I still have some old black-and-white negatives of his that I've just rediscovered. This website has helped me tremendously in narrowing down when the show took place. Thanks, great pictures.

These were all taken on the guard ramp. Northeast corner Philadelphia International Airport. What is now the totally worthless overseas terminal. Show center is runway 17/35 --- Don't even think that this is NAS Willow Grove!

I'm almost 100% positive these photos were taken at NAS Willow Grove - even after 40+ years, the terrain in background looks very familiar to me from my days on active duty at The Grove.
Absolutely gorgeous pics; I've only seen a few pictures of the original C-130 nose other than these. PLEASE put the others up!

So I am looking at these "restored" aircraft.....then I see the old clothes people are wearing.......hmmmm. Then I notice the title.......DOH. WOW Great Shots. Imagine....top of the line, all ready to go. Won't see most of these flying, let alone see at all. What a time capsule, more please. And to think my wife thinks I look at p base just for the girl pix!

Another clue about the C-130 being an A model is the three bladed prop. Newer models had 4 blades.

After reviewing the photo of the C-130, I just have to say that it must be an A-model. The stubby nose is what makes me think this.

Wow!

Great collection. I love the photo of the C-130, I crewed 74 H models. And if I'm not mistaken, that must be a B-36. Simply wonderful...please post more.

Wow, neat photos. I thought I was familiar with aircraft from that era, but there are a couple that have me stumped. The large blue Marine chopper, and the huge silver AF one. Who the heck made those? And that must be a real early Herc, with 3 blades per engine, right? And wasn't there only one of those B36 based transports? This place must have had some good "pull" to get those for a show.

Your dad always had the eye didn't he. These are absolute treasures. Do you have more of the turrets on the B-36? Any more on the XC-99? Also can any research be done on the B-29? I'd like to know what the emblem used to be on the nose.

What airport was this at? I live in the Philly area and marvel at what used to be a large aerospace industry in this area. Was this at Northeast Philly, Willow Grove, Johnsville NATC or ?
