Such great pictures! I was wondering if you had any more pictures of Boeing 377 Stratocruisers? I would love to see some more of them. Also, is there an option to purchase file copies of some of these photos? I would love to have them. Thanks for the treasure of wonderful photos.

I did not have the pleasure to meet Robert Archer, but I have at least one of his books. I am the other Bob Archer, who lives near Mildenhall in the UK, and I was often asked if I was the one who had lived and worked in California. Sadly I had to answer no. I admired Robert's photography, especially some of the lovely Edwards AFB images. I have enjoyed visiting the site, especially the Miramar images. My firstvisit there was 1973, so I can only dream of the days when Banshees and Fury's filled the flightline. Best wishes Bob Archer R.A.F. Mildenhall

I wondered what had happened to Robert D. Archer, who is sometimes confused with the other Bob Archer in England. That Philadelphia Air Show HR2S-1 in 1955 is the kind of typical "oldie but goodie" that gets my heart pounding, but it's the original color slide that matters, not the electronic version. I did not know that Archer had taken B-26 Marauder photos of the kind shown here. I used a similar view in a book some years ago ("U. S. Bombers of World War II," by Robert F. Dorr; London: Sterling, 1989) but it was taken by a different person. This beautiful web page gets my heart pounding when I think of all the old Kodachromes that reside in peoples' attics and basements.

Fantastic aircraft photos from a bygone age. I love those late 50s vintage jet photos. Your father took some outstanding shots of a too often forgotten era in military aviation. Thanks very much, and post more if you can.

Victor, they are wonderful pictures. Besides being examples of pioneering military airplanes, the most amazing is that these slides have been very well preserved. I have seen slides taken not 50, but only 20 years ago which are almost irrecoverable. Thank you for sharing this time-machine pictures with us.
