"Native nuts" that advocate cutting out exotic shrubs to stop Tuis binge-drinking conveniently gloss over the fact that Tui get just as paralytic on the flowers of native flax...

I'm sure it seemed a good idea to him at the time ... Maybe he was drowning a broken heart? ;-)
