Note: found in eastern US. Basal leaves usually crenate, oblanceolate to obovate; open areas and open woods in eastern deciduous forest.

Note: the specimens found in the R/W of the Savannah Bluff Preserve have been browsed on by deer and many of the primary stem leaves are gone and the plant has branched into multiple stems.
