full eclipse

Spokane, WA

This sequence shows the complete lunar eclipse
of August 28, 2007.

The 12 images were taken between @ 00:47 through 05:49
from the hills south of Spokane, WA.

Images #1 & #12 are full moon images (before and after the Umbra).
Images #5 & #8 are just entering and exiting Totality.
Image #7 is the middle of Totality.

It shows how the reflected light from the sun rotates
from lower right to upper left during Totality and
how the colors of the moon changes as it goes first into
the full shadow of the earth (Totality) giving a red color
and then drops into air particulates/pollution in the western horizon
(from farming wheat in eastern Washington) changing to yellow.

What a beautiful series. I've found the moon not easy to shoot. I tend to overexpose because of the high contrast. You've perfected the art. ~V~
