Chamaenerion angustifolium

Common Names: Fireweed, Willowherb

Varieties:
USDA lists two subspecies:
ssp. angustifolium: (found mostly north of the US) and
ssp. circumvagum: (found throughout NA except southern states. Rare in North Carolina)

eFloras lists the same two varieties:
ssp. augustifolium: Leaves subsessile, leaf blades glabrous on abaxial midrib.
ssp. circumvagum: Leaves with petioles 2–7 mm, leaf blades usually strigillose,
rarely glabrous on abaxial midrib.
