Of the two recognized varieties, this is the only one found in WA
Note tall straight single stem with multiple hairless peduncles, most all pointing down. Generally one pointing up and three pointing down with glob of whitish cotton like flower. To determine ssp. note peduncles (stalk bearing the flower), glabrous (no hair) or scabrous (rough, scab like), on angles; culms 20–100 cm.
