Goli otok/Island of GOLI OTOK

Med otoki Rab, Grgur in Prvic leži otok imenovan GOLI OTOK.
Med prvo svetovno vojno je avstrijsko-madžarska monarhija na njem zadrževala skupino ruskih vojnih ujetnikov.
Kamp politicnih zapornikov je bil ustanovljen leta 1948, po sprejetju Resolucije Informbiroja, po ukazu Josipa Broza Tita.
Sem so pošiljali kritike Titove diktature, skupaj z nasprotniki izpred druge svetovne vojne.
Celotna bivša Jugoslavija je bila pod stalnim nadzorom policije, s cimer je bila pokopana svoboda, ki so jo priborili Titovi partizani v drugi svetovni vojni.
Sem so poslali veliko število vojakov, oficirjev, generalov, delavcev, študentov, novinarjev, pisateljev in profesorjev.
To je bil najbolj okruten zapor v Evropi po drugi svetovni vojni. Tja so poslali preko 50.000 ljudi; 5.000 jih je umrlo zaradi bolezni, žeje, lakote in nekateri so umrli po povratku domov.


Between the islands of Rab, Grgur and Prvic there is island of GOLI OTOK.
During first world war austrian-hungary monarhy held a group of russian war prisoners on that island.
The camp od political prisoners was established in 1948, after the Resolution of Informbiro dictated by Josip Broz Tito.
To this island the critics of Tito's dictature have beed send, together with his oponents from the time before second world war.
Whole former Yugoslavia was under constant watch by police forces, which resulted in denial of freedom, won by Tito's partisans during second world war.
A huge number of soldiers, generals, workers, studets, journalists, writers, professors have been sent to this prison.
This was the most crule prison in Europe after second world war.
Over 50.000 people were imprisoned there, arround 5.000 died because of desease, thirst, hunger and some of them died after returning home.
