Proleek Dolmen, Co Louth.

Dolmens are all that remain of ancient burial tombs
built by the Neolithic people, dating back to 3000BC.
Only the most important people were buried there as they
took hundreds of men many years to build. These standing
stones were once covered by a huge mound of earth, with a small entrance.
Local tradition has it that if anyone succeeds in throwing a
rock on top of the capstone, they will get married within a year.
My son got five up - does that mean he'll have five wives?.......
