Gorse

There's an old saying "When gorse is out of bloom, kissing is out of fashion" and as gorse is seldom not blooming, kissing is always in fashion.

A saying I remember clearly by Mrs Gaskell ( Elizabeth ) in her Cranford books.
Love the narrow point of focus here. V

The flowers of the gorse are so pretty, and you captured this beautifully, I haven't heard that saying before! V

delightful as a smack on the lips...there is passion at work here, and an early surprise...

Oh. Yes. Of course. That saying is... well, it's... well, it's Irish, innit?
Thankfully I don't see much of it here, in bloom or otherwise. In the Land Of Oz it is, if I may quote the Victorian Department of Agriculture, "a major weed of agriculture invading all pasture types and significantly reducing grazing capacity". If it blooms at all it mostly does so in the most southern states of Victoria and Tasmania, and if anyone sees it doing so it is less likely to be kissed than to be ripped out and burnt.
