This year marks the 1500th anniversary of the death of St Brigid, the only female Irish patron saint.
She was born at Faughart, north Louth and many of the stories associated with her have been mingled with those of an older Celtic goddess.
As part of Louth's celebrations, a spectacular lighting installation has been erected in the centre of Dundalk.
The first of its kind in Ireland, the lights are choreographed 'dance' in time with music.
I might just have to get my tripod out when it's switched on later in the week!
