Ballycotton lighthouse

The lighthouse on the steep island of Ballycotton, Co Cork, is unusual as it is painted black. This was done so that sailors wouldn't confuse it with a nearby buoy.

Oddly enough it does stand out well against the sky, better even than a white one would.
