Small shops like this were once commonplace in Ireland. Operating from the front room of a house, they sold essentials like tea, sugar, newspapers and sweets. This one is in the village of Carlingford in north Co Louth.
We used to have one like this in our town in London when I was little, the mans cat used to sit on the counter, and you darent stroke it, he'd go for your eyes...Love this shot
Simplicity has a lot of appeal to me these days --- especially when we are so overwhelmed with mammoth corporations, huge shopping malls, and never-ending technology. This image has a definite calming effect.
